Saunas rot, not ours.
Thermally Modified for Canadian Outdoors.

What's Thermally Modified?
Thermal Modification is a chemical free process of heating wood at extreme temperatures in a low oxygen chamber for up to 100 hours. This transforms the wood’s cellular structure, rendering it hydrophobic and nearly moisture-free while stripping away sugars that fuel mold, rot, and decay.
What About Cedar?
Western Red Cedar, a staple in North American Sauna culture for it's rot resistant properties is not what it once was. Sustainable forest practices have replaced old growth cedar with juvenile, under developed cedar. High sapwood content and immature extractives produces immature wood prone to mildew, mold and rot in just a few short years.

All Are Not Equal.
At Timberheat, we use the highest level of thermal modification possible which bakes our wood a deep umber brown. Many competitors opt for lower temp, quicker treatments—revealed by the wood’s lighter color—resulting in weaker durability and a short lifespan. With industry leading rot resistance trust Timberheat for a striking sauna that stands the test of time.
